Hey everyone,
If you've been hanging out with me in the misty fjords of Ormsvik while reading A Tear of Salt and Ash, you probably already know how deeply I've fallen in love with this gritty, untamed 9th-century world. But as I was writing and researching deeper into Viking-era customs, mourning rites, and the brutal weight of chieftain succession, a lingering question kept pulling at me:
How did Eric become the frozen, burdened man we first meet? And what drove the wedge so deep between him and his brother, Ivar?
I couldn't shake it. So, I opened up a blank document, stepped back across the North Sea, and wrote a prequel novella to answer those exact questions.
I am so thrilled (and a little nervous!) to officially announce the release of The Frost on the Straw A Viking Saga novella!
What is it about?
Set ten years before A Tear of Salt and Ash, The Frost on the Straw takes you right into the bitter winter of Ormsvik when young Eric is forced to take up the heavy arm-ring of chieftainship amidst devastating personal loss. Meanwhile, his younger brother Ivar is a wildfire waiting to burn everything down. When Ivar pushes for a reckless, bloody raid across the sea to Ireland, it sets off a chain of events-and introduces a fierce, unexpected catalyst named Sorcha-that will alter their clan forever.
It's dark, it's atmospheric, and it lays the emotional bedrock for everything that happens next in the series.
